Gargoyle Geckos for Sale

4/6/2010 - GARGOYLES FINALLY AVAILABLE
It was a long week, but I picked out 2.1 gargoyles, which I would personally like to keep (was planning on it).  They're not the cheapest you'll find, but they're very reasonable for the quality and size.

Because we've had so many requests for gargoyles lately, I'm also offering a handful of babies for pre-sale.  They'll have to be paid for in advance to reserve them, and then we will ship after May 1, 2010, so that they're at least 45-60 days old before shipping.

3/30/2010

Thanks for the reminders to update this page, everyone!  Unfortunately we're still super low on gargoyles and we have a ton of customers asking for them.  As such, I will be going through my holdbacks very soon, so hopefully I'll have a few older ones to offer until we have more babies to offer.   That said, I might also go ahead and do a pre-sale on a few of the babies that have already hatched
, which will ship out in about a month.

A FEW INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GARGOYLE GECKOS

1. One myth that is true - male gargoyles are harder to find than females.
The those of you who keep/breed crested geckos, it may come as a surprise to you that male gargoyle geckos are actually less common than females.  We've personally never had a problem producing enough males, as you can breed one male to 12 females if you rotate him between cages, but people who want to keep pairs or trios usually find themselves buying three babies and getting three females.  As such, the price of male gargoyles is sometimes higher than that of a female.  Since I now have about 30 adult females and enough males to get the job done, I have no problem with the low ratio of males to females and as such, I'm not pricing them higher or lower due to their sex.

2. Gargoyles regrow their tails, and they look almost like new once the tail has fully grown back.
Unlike their cousin, the crested gecko, gargoyles can regrow their tail if it is dropped.  Another interesting thing is that, unlike a leopard gecko or most any gecko species that can regenerate a dropped tail, the regenerated tail of a gargoyle gecko is almost impossible to distinguish from the original.  The only way you can tell is by looking very closely at the rows of scales, which are uniform and symmetrical on the original tail, will look slightly asymmetrical on the regenerated version.
