Blood (ST) Pythons
Blood Pythons

This is more of a "pet" project than anything (I just had to have a couple of big bright red pythons), but we should finally have a clutch from our 2006 VPI red albino male and VPI het red albino female this season.
Both adults are very red and were produced by VPI in 2006. Until I get some photos that do them justice, I'll just say that these two snakes are so nice that I'm also planning to keep and breed some of the non-albino offspring (hets) together, in order to produce more top notch red bloods like our adult female het. The male red albino is obviously the show-stopper of the pair, but the female is just superb in her own right.
That's the male above, pictured as a yearling. He's big now and looks very much the same...although the tone is less like a tomato (like the picture shows) and more like a stop sign (this has always been the case - that photo just doesn't look rich enough). The female is actually identical in pattern, but being a het, she has jet black in the area where the male is a faded caramel color, and her head is very dark charcoal grey. The contrast of her intense red and all that black is actually very striking.
Update 3/30/10 - I think I have eggs coming, kinda...maybe.
The female is writhing around and twitching as I type this, possibly laying by now, so it's just a matter of days or hours before I know if the eggs are fertile.
Update 7/5/10 - Life is good.
Got a big old whopper of a clutch about two weeks after the above update. This was my first clutch with the bloods - this species is proportioned so differently from carpets and even ball pythons, that I honestly couldn't tell what was going on with her. I was expecting around 8 eggs, but I ended up with 14 - all of which hatched a couple weeks ago. These snakes haven't even shed yet and all but a 3-4 have already taken their first meal.
Pricing & Availabiilty
I've been saying I'm going to start a bloodline with these guys, and that I didn't plan sell any of their first clutch (I even want to keep some hets to make more outrageous "normal" red bloods like mom - that's how good these are), but the clutch produced almost twice as many babies as I expected, and they're all gorgeous, so we'll be selling a few of these for sure.
Pricing has not yet been determined, but I'm going to be reasonable on these. If you're interested in a one or a pair, please get in touch.
