Shipping News & Status Updates

The W
eek of Monday, June 10, 2013

Temps are going to be good here in KC on Monday, however we *may* be too warm to ship crested geckos on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Please give us 24 hours notice on all shipping requests.
Wholesale orders require one week notice, as they take much longer to pack.
Orders are scheduled for shipping on a "first come first served" basis. Normally we can accomodate all shipping requests in a given day, but if the weather has been holding up shipments for an extended period, we may become backed up on orders.  We always do our best to ship when you request, but there may occasionally be times when we have to postpone or reschedule shipments. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
A Note About Crested Geckos and Temperature Extremes

As long as the temperature stays above freezing (32F) on both ends, we can ship crested geckos without worry.  The thing is, heat is always worse than cold when we're talking about crested geckos, and hatchlings can be extremely sensitive to heat.   That means we use cold packs in the summers and we avoid using heat packs with hatchling crested geckos at all costs, because they can very easily overheat. For example, the box can easily reach 90 degrees with a heat pack inside if it's over 50-60 degrees in the destination city, or if the package is brought into a climate controlled (room temperature) building and not opened immediately.  For this reason, we never ship crested geckos when temperatures dip below 32F here in KC or in the destination city, and we avoid using heat packs (for babies especially).  Likewise, we avoid shipping them when temperatures peak over 85-88 degrees, depending on forecasted destination temperatures.

Please Remember...
  • Orders need to be scheduled to ship at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Wholesale orders (10+ geckos) must be scheduled one full week in advance, due to time constraints, as larger orders take longer to pack.
  • We Ship Monday through Wednesday.
Monday through Wednesday are our normal shipping days. We try to avoid Friday arrivals because of the added risks (explained on shipping terms page).
  • Remember to check your local forecast.
Weather is always an important factor in deciding on a ship date.  Don't forget, you can use the weather.com module on the right hand side of this page to check your local forecast, as well as ours.
