Hannibal Offspring IJ's
Hatchlings from Two Clutches Available

Hannibal is a very unique Irian Jaya carpet python.  He has no actual black pigment, making his color most reminiscent of the Lesser Platinum ball python. We'll know this coming season if his color is the result of a mutation, or something that we will need to selectively breed for.  If this proves genetic, the babies we're selling now will be 100% heterozygous for his appearance.  If it's not simple recessive or co-dominant, then this is the ground floor of an awesome new bloodline.

This one's a no brainer if you're considering a carpet python or two for your next purchase!

Shipping News
Week of Monday, February 8, 2010

Check out the new & improved weather/precipitation/flight delays module on the right hand side of this page!

We will not be shipping any live reptile orders on Monday, 2/8 and Tuesday 2/9 due to adverse weather conditions (overnight temps in the low teens and snow).

Wednesday isn't looking likely either, but it supposed to be a little warmer.  We'll just have to wait and see if the forecast changes before making that call.  If you would like to schedule a shipment for Wednesday, please know that this will be tentative until we see how the weather is going to behave.

If you've shopped with us in the past, you know that I very rarely postpone ALL outgoing shipments, regardless of weather on the other end.  However, my decision was based on the fact that it's not only too cold here, but also because there's a 90-100% chance for snow - meaning we have not only cold weather to contend with, but also a higher risk of flight delays.

Schedule by 12 Noon (Central Time Zone)
To avoid any last minute shipping confusion, all reptile shipments must be scheduled before NOON (Central  Standard Time) if they are to be shipped that day.

Friday & Saturday Arrivals
Monday through Wednesday are our normal shipping days.  Orders shipped for Friday arrival must be scheduled a minimum of 2 business days in advance.

 IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION
PLEASE READ BEFORE SCHEDULING YOUR SHIPMENT

*** New Saturday Delivery Policy for 2010 ***
As of January 1, 2010, we are no longer able to ship for Saturday arrival, although we may be able to ship through a friend in special circumstances.

We now book all reptile shipments through ShipYourReptiles.com (SYR) for a number of reasons...reassons that benefit you, me, and our industry's image to the rest of America.  SYR does not reccomend or even allow shipping for arrival on Saturdays, due to the fact that a "one business day" delay would mean your animals wouldn't be delivered until Monday (nobody delivers on Sunday).  We tend to agree with them on this issue, but for our customers convenience, we have continued to ship for Saturday arrival using our old UPS account.  Unfortunately, we didn't ship out enough Saturday arrivals in 2009 to keep our UPS account active, and as of January 1, 2010, UPS has closed our "special needs" shipping account, which is required to legally ship snakes through UPS.

In the event that you absolutely must have something delivered on a Saturday, we may be able to arrange for a local friend (45 minutes on the other side of town - not that local) to ship for us.  This will be done only in special situations, and only for larger orders.  An extra charge will apply for this service (thanks to UPS closing our account and our discount no longer applying).

About Extreme Weather Shipments
We've gotten pretty good at packing animals for shipping in all kinds of weather, so don't worry if you live in a warmer or colder area...just be patient and let us do our job, which includes planning your shipment carefully.  That's really the key to shipping safely, especially in the summer months.

If your local forecast is calling for extreme temperatures (below 50 or above 85), let us know and we will look at your forecast and then figure out a good day to ship...often including a heat pack or cold pack.

If we do have to hold off on shipping, don't worry.  I've been doing this long enough to know that almost every area has an unusually cool or warm day every now and then. If we have a window of a few weeks, a lot of times I'll find a good day to ship to just about anywhere.

On a personal note...
Remember these are live animals and one of our most fundamental responsibilities as responsible pet owners is to make sure that we're giving our captives the best lives possible.  This means not jeopardizing their health for selfish reasons.  I'm around thousands of animals all the time and I still can't wait to get something new...and I still can't go to a reptile show and not take something new home.  Apparently I'll never outgrow that, so trust me...I feel your pain!  I can also give you a dozen reasons why it's ideal that we move sold reptiles out the door as quickly as possible.  However, sometimes it's in the best interest of the animal to wait and plan things out a little more carefully.
