Chocolate Fur - Harry & Co.
Exaggerated Crests
In late 2003, I acquired a baby that didn't look too unusual at first.  As she grew, I realized that her crests were getting longer as she grew. I was excited because the crests are what gives the crested gecko its name and these were the best I had ever seen. Unfortunately, with only one female, a project like that could take ten years to refine unless I was willing to line breed them indefinitely, which I was not.

Well, that all ended in 2004 when I saw a picture of this gecko that had the most ridiculous crests I had ever seen...and it was a male!  I had a name for this gecko (Harry) before I even knew that I would be getting him.  After some quick negotiations with his then owner, I was able to acquire this unique gecko and the wheels were set in motion.

From then on, I became obsessed with producing more geckos just like Harry. The only thing was, this was a structural trait I was looking at and I didn't want to start a project like that with just two geckos, as that would lead to a shallow gene pool. I picked out five more females with well developed crests and the deepest chocolate color that I could find and as they say, the rest is history.

We're now raising up offspring from the 2nd generation of selective breeding and the results couldn't be better.
