Marble Line
Chevron/Tiger/Dalmatian
This project is unique to Anthony Caponetto
Reptiles. The 'Marble' name is not meant to be a new morph name, but rather the
name of this bloodline.
This project started in 2004, when I got a pair
of hatchling geckos from another breeder. As hatchlings, they appeared to be
nicely colored 'dark fire' or 'chevron-back' crested geckos. As they aged,
the male's pattern stayed the same, but the female was going through a very
unusual pattern change. She began gaining an unusual amount of orange mottling
(or marbling) on her sides, which seemed to coordinate with the orange chevrons
on her back. By about 9 months of age, this orange marbling on her sides was so
intense that the dark base color became hardly noticeable.
Knowing their parents were unrelated, I bred
the original female to her brother, as that was my best chance of producing more
geckos with the female's appearance. Out of that pairing, I produced just a
couple of geckos that looked like their mother.
After two generations of selective line
breeding, the offspring almost always look like the original female.

Marble Version 2.0 Coming Soon!
Because we're now three generations into the project and getting exactly the
results intended, I've decided to be safe and go into the second phase of the
project by out-crossing the line with unrelated geckos for the 2008 season.
I will then put the best looking unrelated offspring back into the project.
To accomplish this, I've taken all the female
Marbles and paired them with the original two males from my
C2 Tiger Dalmatian
project. I was breeding the best two males from my Marble project, so I
decided to pair them with some various red and orange Dalmatians and Tigers.
I'm not sure exactly where the Marble bloodline
is headed, but with such unbelievably attractive geckos, I can't see it going
wrong. Stay tuned for more details!
